Directions

DIRECTIONS

cook potatoes in an instant pot for 10 mins with natural release. mixed all ingredients with potatoes (drained) and roll then fry. This dish is mostly inspired by Indian samosa but the ingredients and masala we use in Burma/Myanmar is very different. In my opinion we don’t use as much spices in our Indian inspired dished including Samosa. also we use different wrapping paper than Indian Samosa. This dish is mostly enjoyed as snack, breakfast item and we also make this into a Samosa Athoat which is Samosa Salad with chopped cabbage, sliced shallot, yellow split bean soup with chopped chili, mint leaves with a squeeze of lime – another famous dish in Burma.

what is Burmese Samosa?

Burmese Samosa, also known as “Burmese Golden Triangle Samosa,” is a popular snack in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). It’s a variation of the more widely recognized Indian samosa, but it has its unique characteristics and flavors.

Here are some key features of Burmese Samosa:

  1. Filling: The filling of Burmese Samosa typically consists of a mixture of minced meat (such as chicken, pork, or beef), diced vegetables (like potatoes and peas), and various spices and seasonings. However, vegetarian versions with ingredients like tofu and chickpeas are also common.
  2. Wrapper: Burmese Samosas are often wrapped in a thinner, crispier pastry than the thicker, flakier pastry used in Indian samosas. The wrapper is made from a combination of wheat flour and rice flour, which gives it a unique texture.
  3. Shape: Burmese Samosas are usually triangular in shape, much like their Indian counterparts. However, they tend to be smaller and more delicate in size.
  4. Seasonings: Burmese Samosas are seasoned with a blend of spices that may include ginger, garlic, onions, and various Burmese ingredients to create a distinctive flavor profile.
  5. Serving: They are commonly served with a dipping sauce made from tamarind, which adds a sweet and tangy flavor to complement the savory filling.

Burmese Samosas are a popular street food and snack in Myanmar, enjoyed by people of all ages. They are often deep-fried until they are golden brown and crispy. This snack offers a delicious combination of flavors and textures and is a delightful example of the diversity of cuisine found in the region.
